30 Amp is this what I need?
« on: February 21, 2012, 09:58:37 PM »
I found a 30amp box out of a Terry trailer and was wondering if this would work in converting my trailer over to 30amp
the guy is only asking $20 obo so it sounded like a good deal to me

Take a look and any info would be appreciated

Josh,
This is the one I installed in my Mesa. I love it, great having plenty of power. I also put in a 30 amp power plug in and power cord.

If I lived in Utah I would try to beat you to it. ;D That is a great deal, same thing as in my 5th wheel trailer.

That's a good price on the 30 amp cord. They don't come cheap. I bought a 30 amp cord and the plug to mount on the side of the trailer and it was $40.00 on eBay.  You did really well.

You should have seen the trailer it came from he was stripping it down to make a car hauler out of it. He said the water heater exploded and bowed the side of the trailer out so the insurance company totalled it out.

Wow I wonder what caused that water heater to explode. Maybe a gas leak.  :o

ok i decided not to start a new thread called is this what i need. i am wanting to over do it a little here an d upgrade to a larger converter : http://www.ebay.com/itm/WFCO-45-Amp-Power-Converter-RV-Battery-Charger-World-friendship-Deck-mount-/170890316749?hash=item27c9db4bcd&item=170890316749&pt=Motors_RV_Trailer_Camper_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

now to use this i would run a 50 watt cord to the apache and then into a breaker box then to the converter, everything except the outlets will run off 12v dc we are still working on the ac install so that will be 110 also.

has anyone installed this type into an apace? i like the fact that it will not be in the open so i can make the galley look smooth and cleaned up.
and i like the three step battery charger/maintainer function.

This is what I did in mine except 30 amp not 50. I ran a 30 amp shore power cord to the main breaker also 30 amp then the 110 outlets ran on 20 and 15 amp breakers.
