Tire Size

Good Afternoon,
I recently bought a 79/80 Apache Mesa that currently has the 12"x 5.30 tires on the trailer. Previously my last two apache (along with every other apache besides 79/80) have had the 20.5 x 8.0 x 10".  As I get ready to replace the current tires, is there any advantage between one vs. the other size?  Thank you

Hmm, maybe they switched up axles or something?  If was thinking of switching to the 20.5x8x10's, would have to ensure they'd fit over the drum (if it has it).  And most of the 20.5x8x10's have now went to the metric equivalent of 205/65-10.

the 5.30s were taller/skinnier for sure. 
I just got a '79 (or newer) Ramada II and it has the 20.5-10's on it just like the 76 Mesa and the 78 Ramada that I have also do.

Someone must have put taller tires on your camper. I have lifted my Apache by putting my springs over the axel but kept the original size tires. I guess having two inches taller tires would make the tires ride cooler during high speeds on the highways but mine seem to do fine and we are not allowed to go fast while towing here in California. Your choice if you have the room between your tire and wheel wells.
