I just noticed today that my Apache has hubcabs. They do not look like the moon ones everyone talks about. Instead, they come to a point in the middle. Are these something that was added later?

I am not sure if they are aftermarket, but my 72 Mesa had just 1 on it.  I am looking for another, if anyone has an extra.

I want some of the round retro-looking ones. I think they are called moons. If I can find some of those, i will part with these. :D

Those hubcaps are original equipment, my 79 Ramada came with them also.

I guess I will clean them up and put them back on with my new tires, since they are original.  I looked in the gallery to see if anyone else had them but only found most people had no hubcaps or the round ones.

Does anyone know what year they stopped putting on the moon ones and started using the pointy ones? I still think the moon ones are way cooler and would love to have some. Has anyone ever found a source for them? I notice all the posts about them are years old so I hope someone found them by now.

No news on hubcaps but it looks like a little dry rot on the side walls of the tires. Are planning new tires?

I think those hubcaps look cool 8) very retro. Polish them up you may really like them.

I am going to polish them when I get new tires put on. Maybe they will grow on me. :D  I just really, really, really like the moon shaped ones, especially the ones that say Apache on them. But, since I have had the Apache for over a month and just today noticed that I had hubcabs at all, I guess I should not worry too much about getting new ones.

I towed the Apache home 400 miles on those tires with no problems, thank God. My husband was out of town for 23 days and had a cow when he got home and saw the tires. The next time they leave the driveway will be in the bed of the truck on the way to be replaced.  :)

That's good news! I too would have had a cow. Those hubcaps look like Aluminum. They will polish up to a mirror shine. Just don’t stand too close with a skirt on!

almsthvn, Tim is showing the hubcaps with red Apache lettering for sale on his web site and you might see if they are still available. You might send him a pm as I have not seen him post here in awhile.

Heres the link, good luck.

I need 10" ones and his are 8". :(  Thanks anyway.

I wonder if he even sells parts anymore, as his site seems to be abandoned. :?

I had a '78 Ramada with the pointy hub caps.  They also had a round black sticker with "Apache" on it in the center.  They do poilish up nice.  I kept them for my other Apache when I sold the Ramada.

Almsthvn, having those original hubcaps is really pretty rare! You can look high and low and you won't see too many other Apaches with them!!
