Easy way to pack bearings !
« on: September 12, 2009, 10:45:50 PM »
Check this out ! The guy at the tire shop actually suggested I buy these from somewhere else instead of paying them 50 bucks to pack the bearings. They replace the center cap and have a grease fitting on them so all you do is squirt the grease into the bearings with out removing the wheels.

I know the bearings still need to be inspected every once in a while, but this looks to be a time saver for sure and no messy hands.

These are a great idea until you blow the grease seal out the back side of the hub by forcing too much grease into the hub.  I have them on one of my trailers but am very careful about over greasing, This trailer is submerged in water occasionally and I don't want water to get into the bearings. Not sure that they are a good idea on an Apache.
Lost....But making good time.
