Thanks for an awesome time Ron! It always goes by too fast. Can't wait until the spring roundup.
Despite the threat of Sandy, we did not get rained out. In fact I only remember a little bout of light mist Friday night, but not enough to chase us away from the campfire! Couldn't have asked for better temperatures, mid to high 60's in the day, nice and cool for sleeping at night. There was a steady breeze, but not one that was disruptive to camp life.
North Bend Park was beautiful as we set up on Thursday. The lake is way below full pond (ten feet or better) due to lack of rain in the watershed, but it actually created a beautiful shoreline, with wide beaches and a lot of interesting rock formation that were exposed by the receded shoreline.
I drove in across the dam, an absolutely gorgeous introduction to the lake.
In a lot of the lakeside camping spots in this area you can't see anything of the lake from your campsite. Not so at North Bend Park, many of the campsites have a good view of the lake since the ground level vegetation is not as heavy as in other campgrounds. Even though the sun was rarely seen after Saturday morning, it was still a very nice weekend.
It was great to see all the familiar faces and to meet new ones. The highlight of the weekend was probably the 1985 Royal brought in by Grubbyjeans. I know Ron is at home right now dreaming about it
