Gray Blue Eagle Year?
« on: February 26, 2019, 07:57:47 PM »
Just curious what year a gray blue hardtop Apache Eagle would be?    There used to be a chart or list of colors for certain years of early canvas Apache models.  I think the link is dead.  I only find colors for the solid state campers now.

I have a gray/blue eagle with the folding clam shell top. It's a '68.

Thank you!   I had it narrowed down to 66 thru 69 but could not find an ad or photo though I know I've seen one.

Yeah, no problem. I even have some of the original sales documentation to seal the deal.

I like original documents!  So now you have to post a couple photos of the camper, right?

Here's some...It still has the original Utah plates from '68. I had to re-do the Apache/Eagle badges and the lights because the seller broke one of the tail lights and thought it would be smart to just screw some big wonky aftermarket lights into the sheet metal. He threw the good one into the trash so I had him fish it out for me and then I bought another one on eBay and reconditioned them so I had an original set. I also added a vintage sticker from '69 with the Apollo 11 astronauts names on it and a vintage travel sticker from yellowstone.

The Apache in the directions is a 65 Eagle I do believe. Red
Apaches are environmentally friendly & leaders of the pack.

The body style is a 67 to 69, but I have heard of report this body style been seen on 65 and 66 too.  Locate the SN/Vin tag on the back door or to the right of the back door.  If you found two holes, then the tag is missing.  You tag should have "ESL 4999-8".  Here what it means "E for Eagle, "S" for Silver, "L" I don't know that option but possible benches and table, manufacturing Serial number is 4999, and -8 means 1968.  Its all in your paperwork.

Look up my 69 Eagle pictures on Facebook, Gary Kane, Torrance California, nose in the air and wearing an orange shirt.  I built a platform for a battery, added side markers, extended one bed with an extender I built, and I show you how to pack added a wheel lift to adjust the height and swing the trailer around, added a awning too, and Eagle with boxes

I love that night picture. It's a great photograph, the canvas is tight, the light inside is bright and the landscape behind is wonderful. Don't you worry about wild animals, being that far out in the desert or wherever that is?

Thanks. It's Lake Powell, near the area of Hite. I've only seen 1 rattlesnake in several camping trips out there, and that was on a hike up into the cliffs. I've only seen one tarantula. Mostly we see tarantula hawks buzzing around during the day, but they don't really want anything to do with humans. My brother tries to go out at night searching for nocturnal desert creatures but hasn't even found a scorpion yet. There's nothing like sleeping out in the desert under a full moon on a warm night with all the Eagle windows open.

the color was used late 68-69. If I remember right it was teal.
They changed the models in early sept. Vesley shut down the factory in aug. pulled all the equipment out cleaned the shop then moved the stuff in and revamped the lines as needed.
