Apache Identification?
« on: July 26, 2019, 02:11:58 PM »
I’m trying to track down a very specific camper and come to you for help figuring out the year and model so I could hopefully find one to enjoy again. Unfortunately, all I have to go on is my memory and a few old photos. As a kid, my parents took my brother and I on annual camping trips with an early 1960’s Apache tent camper. It had an unpainted aluminum bottom with a heavy yellow snap cover. When setting up the camper, we would unfurl the tent to one side of the trailer and then move and extend the poles on the inside into place. My brother and I had the floor while my parents got to enjoy the mattress on top of the trailer. There was one long door on each side of the trailer and my grandfather had modified the storage areas to make things easier. On the “tent” side, we had 4 drawers for clothes with storage space on both sides for blankets, sleeping bags, and lanterns. The “kitchen” side had shelves for dry goods and kitchen utensils. The exciting feature he added was an insulated ice box to keep perishable items cold. I’m attaching a picture to aid in my hunt. Thank you for reading this and look forward to any leads or suggestions.

Sounds like an Apache Chief. Search for Apache Chief and see if that's what you remember. I think Sears also sold one under the Ted Williams brand name that was very similar.
