1968? Apache Mesa II
« on: May 18, 2020, 06:15:28 PM »
I recently picked up what I believe is a '68 Apache Mesa II. It is a dark green color and has the two beds and the dinette.

I'm missing the "Mesa" badge on the rear passenger side, and one of the roof latches. Anyone know where I could find these parts? I'm located in SW Washington, about 40 miles north of Portland, OR.

Thank you for your time,
Mike

Apache Replacement Parts should have the badges and probably some aftermarket latches. I ordered badges and lettering from them for my '68 Mesa and my '68 Eagle.

Thank you sir.

According to Apache replacement parts, the Mesa badge is no longer available. Also, it looks like the roof lock down latches are a different bolt pattern. Is that true? It would be nice if they were the same mounting footprint. I may have to have some laser cut and formed myself.

Can someone help me decipher my serial number? The s/n is: MSL-5367-8 (The "S" might also be a "3" instead)

From the little research I've dont, I believe it to be a '68. However, I need to be certain when I go to the DMV to title it.

Thank you,
Mike

This is a link that should answer your questions. The "M" is for Mesa, the "S" is correct, the "8" is year of manufacture or 1968.

Yeah, the latches are different. Most of the original Apache latches I've ever seen on this era of trailers have been bent and damaged beyond usability, so that may explain why they don't carry them. The ones they sell are aftermarket. I drilled some new holes to attach them, and filled in the old holes with Quiksteel epoxy putty or some equivalent. You might be able to find a good image and measurements of the original Mesa badge and get it 3d printed by a custom printer, or laser cut?
