Floor covering for Eagle
« on: July 27, 2020, 09:37:00 AM »
Does anybody know what type of material was originally used as floor covering? Mine has a carpet covering that I'm thinking of replacing with tile/linoleum as it would be easier to clean.

I believe it was just a rubber mat?

Yes, it was just a rubber mat.   At least that is what was in my '62 Eagle.

I had a 69 Eagle.  The wood was bare covered by a rubber map.  I also custom cut some indoor/outdoor carpeting using the rubber mat as guide and put it on top of the rubber map.  Wheel wells cutouts were reduced in size and carpet glued to the top of the wheel wells inside.  This does keep the trailer warmer on these cold mornings.  The carpet was from home depot and reasonably cheap.  I had to use a sharp knife to cut the carpet on a wood board.

Check for missing or loose screws connecting the body to the plywood.  I drilled the holes all the way thru as necessary using one size larger machine bolts with washers on both sides and lock nuts on the bottom side.  This solved my body to floor separation issue.  Start on the corners and work your way behind the wheel wells.

I had the same body separation problem and used bulk ss carriage bolts from menards. I cut stainless steel strips and drilled through them  for the underside to back up the aluminium as it might pull through otherwise.

I know the body separation issue was caused by the previous owner hitting the curb on a right turn popping out the bolts.

My 69 has a the original rubber mat with the Apache logo on it.
Some people have taken their old torn mat and cut the logo out and inserted it into a new rubber mat.
I like the outdoor carpet idea too though, maybe use edge binding to make it look trick.

I made a paper mold and cut a cheap indoor/outdoor carpet to fit.  The wheel hub cutouts were recut and glued on the wheel wells.  It does make a big difference on those cold mornings.
