Help leak
« on: April 26, 2007, 09:46:45 PM »
Yes I just  bought a 77 ramada and after the rain last night I found out that it leaks on the beds only  the rest of the roof is fine.  Now I didn't have puddles on my beds put the wood underneath was wet the next day.

Unfourtanly I missed spending the night in the camper for the storm so I can't see were the leak is coming from but when I spray the bed ends with the hose it appears to be comming from the corners  Top and Bottom corners.     Like the top hinge above the window and where the top meets the camper and latches also were the bed slides out at the :(  bottom .

The camper is all original and has no updates or mods.    The owner had it garage kept unless camping and told me he always but a tarp over the roof when camping ever since the day he bought it.

Can anyone help me out and steer me in the right direction to fix it.

Leaking bed windows

I found leaks at the bed windows becaused of the bed window angles.  I installed metal strips on either window ends and a window overhang to drip the water away from the top of the window.

Welcome to the forum,

Even if the whole camper is original, you will find a lot of seals and weather strips are dried out and missing because previous owner had removed them. Some are mentioned in the service and parts manual and some don't. So here are the basic stuff you can start with. 1, camper is setup leveled? This helps water sheds away properly. 2, camper bed end is setup properly according to the owners manual? I found out initially that you can actually setup differently and not proper which could causes leaks. 3, If still leaks, are there any kids of seal or weather strips at the joints and corners? missing or dried out? Some corners had rubber foam pieces sticked on by double sided tapes. Mine were long disintergraded, and just the yellow tapes small pieces of foam were present.

Here is a page from the service manual that should help you with the windows area and bedend.. http://www.apachepopups.net/albums/album180/V_005.jpg
