Living Hinge on wall with door....
« on: August 13, 2009, 07:38:06 PM »
The hinge on the wall that the door is on is cracked and appears to be putting pressure on the wall because the hinge does not open correctly. Is this hinge repairable? Here is a pic of the spot.

That is not living hinge, living hing is only on the bed ends. As far as the repair on the wall goes I will let someone that has dealt with it before answer that.

Dick Habegger had aluminum hinge made up for the sidewall replacement on Apaches. I bought some from him and installed it in the same place you are showing. It is not living hinge like on the bed ends, it's only for the sidewalls. He also has instructions on how to install it. I haven't talked to him in about a year so I hope his email is still the same. Anyway here it is. amej@ix.netcom.com

Redwood is correct. I bought some from him also for our 72 Mesa. A really sharp guy and a quality replacement extrusion. Let me know if you can't reach him.

I just replaced that entire side's hinge as well.  I obtained the aluminum extrusion from Dick just a few weeks ago.  It was reasonably easy to do.

Just got the the reply email from Dick. He gave me a link to his web site http://home.netcom.com/~amej/apache.html It sure looks like a project. What ever it takes to get my camper back into shape I'm up for the task ;D
