campfire popcorn
« on: April 22, 2012, 04:53:26 PM »
I read about this and tried it at the Mid-Atlantic round-up. It's a little tricky and I need to perfect my popping skills, but here's the recipe for popcorn over the campfire:

A square of heavy-duty tinfoil, or regular weight tinfoil doubled over
1 teaspoon oil
1 teaspoon popping corn

Butter and salt for after it's popped

Put the oil and popcorn into the middle of the square of tinfoil, bring all sides together to seal, leaving air space inside for the popcorn to pop. Poke a stick or campfire fork through the top (the sealed part). Hold over the campfire to pop. It's tricky to keep it from burning, but it's really cool when it starts popping!
