Is John still around/making AC brackets?
« on: May 27, 2013, 10:51:34 AM »
I am looking into the idea of adding AC to my 76 Mesa in the window.
I see where John posted a link (about a year ago) about it in an old thread here but I tried clicking on it and as per usual, clicking just brought me back to the main "Forum" page instead of opening it.... Though fortunately, on this site people don't complain to "use the search first" before asking common questions  that have been asked several times before... (That's a good thing)  I did try the search before asking, and am going in circles....
I am interested in cost, and how "universal" they are  or "A/C unit-specific".  because I don't yet have an AC unit to put in there.    I am looking at probably an 8000 BTU or so.

also, I know that most of these A/C's have the wings that extend, to close the rest of the space on the sides of the unit. but what did you guys do for sealing the top of the unit? A 2nd, smaller piece of plexi, just big enough to fit the "rest of" the window hole that the AC doesn't cover?

I have a 76 mesa  do not have the AC unit yet though.  I am looking at one of these <$200  5000 or 6000 BTU that all the box stores seem to have piles of  these days.   I am hoping to find a good used one in the paper though. no bigger than 8K BTU.

Count Me In,

Find the A/C unit then shoot John an e-mail. He builds the rack for your A/C size! He has the measurements for the 76 Mesa windows because a few of us have ordered from him already! 8)

I never did get one from him for that camper, I have since moved onto a Ramada. but sadly we are again on our own, because as I think I remember someone on this forum came on here to say that the guy who had been making those had passed away about a year-year and a half ago..... I'm sure someone else will be on here shortly to either confirm or correct me.

I just looked in the member list, around page 150ish, name John F, last signed on here in spring of 2016........ I know he had been popular and well liked by those that knew him.... I never got that chance.
